# Shithead

Taught to me by Maya and Lily in Prague June 2024.

More players more cards.

Deal three cards face down to each player.
Deal three cards face up to each player, one on top of each of the face down cards.
Deal three cards into each player's hand.

All players may rearrange their hand cards with their up cards so as to make a strong set of up cards for later in the game.

Eldest hand is determined by the first player to be dealt a 3 as an up card.
If no player has an up 3 then the player who declares a 3 in their hand goes.
If this fails the process repeats with 4s and so on.

Eldest hand leads with one or more cards of a given rank.
The next player must place a set of cards (one or more) equal to or higher in rank,
or according to the special rules below.
If a player cannot follow the lead they must pick up the stack.

Initially players must maintain three cards in their hand at all times.
If playing cards reduces the count in the hand to less than three the player must draw from the deck until they once again have three cards.

When the deck is exhausted players are allowed to, through the course of normal play, empty their hands and, ultimately, play their up cards and then their down cards.
Of course, the down cards are unknown and played blind.
If they fail to follow the lead they must pick up the stack and play through those cards before continuing.

## Special Rules

- 2s may be played on any card.
- 7s may be played on any card and are invisible to the next player.
- 10s may be played on any card and clear the stack. The player who plays the 10 may lead with any card.
- quartets, henever four cards of the same rank are played in a row the stack is cleared and the player who played the fourth card may lead with any card.
